Grand Overland 4x4 Tours
Your Guide
For Marcus, a 4WD isn't just a vehicle; it’s a tool for exploration that requires respect and understanding. As the owner of Grand Overland 4x4 Tours, Marcus offers his guests something rare in the world of adventure tourism: the dual assurance of a military veteran and a qualified mechanic.
Before launching Grand Overland, Marcus spent 13 years in the military, honing the kind of land navigation skills that GPS systems simply can’t replace. He learned to read the terrain, assess risks, and lead teams through the unknown. Today, he applies that same discipline to guiding convoys through the Australian bush, ensuring that "off the beaten track" never means "lost."
But his expertise doesn't stop at the map. As a trade-qualified mechanic, Marcus understands the nuts and bolts of the vehicles he leads. Whether he’s behind the wheel of his own Land Rover Defender or helping a guest with a rattle on the trail, his mechanical insight keeps the wheels turning. Marcus invites you to leave the bitumen behind, safe in the knowledge that you are following a guide who can fix the car and find the way home.

Short answer is no. Most 4WDs are equipped to handle basic off roading and beach driving however a few modifications are required to ensure a safe and enjoyable trip. Modifications you should consider as the minimum are; front and rear rated recovery points, a snatch strap kit rated for your car with 2 rated bow shackles, All-Terrain tyres, and where water crossings could be involved, then a snorkel is a must. Those intending to attend our Cape York tours, a lift of about 2” and some vehicle protection is advised.
