98% of the campsites we use are caravan friendly. We utilise the Bloomfield track which has very steep sections and is as a result not suitable for towing. There are a number of places in FNQ that allow you to park your van where you can then attend the trip to the Tip, knowing your van isn’t going to cop an absolute beating.

Short answer is no. Most 4WDs are equipped to handle basic off roading and beach driving however a few modifications are recommended to ensure a safe and enjoyable trip. Modifications you should consider as the minimum are; front and rear rated recovery points, a snatch strap kit rated for your vehicle with 2 rated shackles, All-Terrain tyres, and where water crossings are involved or frequent, a snorkel is a must. Those intending to attend our Cape York trip, a basic 2-inch lift, and some vehicle protection is advised.
